13, 2008: I started this 2.1 over 4 years ago, with much of
the exterior work done at that time. The major bore work was
done over the past 6 months. Rattan and sterling silver nakatsugi
joint, sterling utaguchi bordering / kinko inlay, very dense
piece of nicely mottled madake, harvested in Kumamoto, Kyushu.
Shaved root end with the bell bending just a little to the
right.
This is a more subtle shakuhachi, with a softer, honed, creamy
tone, and an especially beautiful kan.
